Pastor Lee and Gidget Athey The Keri Strug Vault

It is amazing how much better a team will play at home. At home with the fans and cheerleaders cheering and the band playing, the team plays harder. The Keri Strug Vault

I think churches need cheerleaders. People who will encourage those following Christ to hang in there and let them know they are going to make it because with God’s help they are going to make.

In 1996 Olympics, Keri Strug, was gymnast for the America Team. The Olympic Gold medal was in reach. All Keri needed was a good score in the vault. There was one problem, she sprang her ankle in her first attempt.

I remember seeing her crying on the bench. Her ankle was hurting and it did not look like America was going to win the gold. But with one more vault to go, her coach came over and said, “You can do it, Keri. I believe in you. You can do it.”

As she stood up and faced the vault, all she could see was the look in her coaches eyes as he stood past the vault. She was in pain, but somehow she found the strength to run down the track and flip off the vault and score a winning number. And USA won the goal. Because her coach encouraged her to do what she thought she could not do. She did it, pain and all.

1 Thessalonians 5

11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Maybe you need to be told today, that you are going to make it. Well, I am telling you, with God all things are possible and you are going to make it today. Hold on to God and keep your faith. You are going to make it.

Let us pray!

Blessings,
